Volunteering for an Oxfam-Québec cooperation project is not just about using your talents. You’ll join a team dedicated to fighting inequality and ending poverty and injustice around the world.

The volunteer cooperation program draws on the skills and expertise of hundreds of volunteers from all cultural backgrounds and walks of life, including professionals, retired and semi-retired people, and youth.

Volunteers in Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East join local organizations working with vulnerable populations to create lasting change in their communities.

Honduras – Feminist Communication and Political Advocacy Advisor

This is a 3-6 month mandate in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

 

The mandate is under the Equality in Action Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP), which takes place in 12 countries and 3 regions over a eight-year period (2020-2028).

The VCP aims to increase the involvement of local partners in countries of intervention in inclusive, innovative and sustainable initiatives that will advance gender equality. Oxfam's role is to support these organizations, working with the most vulnerable and marginalized people, to claim and exercise their rights. Oxfam places the rights of women, girls, and vulnerable and marginalized people at the heart of everything we do.

 

Here's what your daily life will look like:

In close collaboration with Oxfam's in-country team members, your mandate will be to:

  • Design and lead political advocacy trainings with a feminist approach;
  • Provide tailored guidance and support to partner organizations in developing and implementing advocacy strategies suited to their local and national contexts;
  • Strengthen the coordination and mobilization capacity of partner organizations through strategic advising and targeted public speaking workshops;
  • Promote the integration of intersectional perspectives and digital security practices.

 

For this mandate you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or have permanent resident status in Canada;
  • Hold a university degree in political science, sociology, human rights, gender studies, or any other relevant field;
  • Have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience to the mandate;
  • Be fluent in Spanish, spoken and written (required);
  • Master the Office Suite and design and edition softwares (Abobe etc..)

 

What we offer:

El PCV tiene como objetivo aumentar la participación de las socias locales en los países de intervención a través de iniciativas inclusivas, innovadoras y sostenibles que promoverán la igualdad de género. El papel de Oxfam consiste en apoyar a estas organizaciones, trabajando con las personas más vulnerables y marginalizadas, para que revindiquen y ejerzan sus derechos.   • Brindar formación en incidencia política con enfoque feminista;
  • Acompañar y asesorar a las organizaciones socias en el diseño y ejecución de planes de incidencia adaptados a sus contextos territoriales y nacionales;
  • Fortalecer la capacidad de articulación y movilización de las organizaciones socias a través de asesorías estratégicas y talleres de vocería especializados;
  • Promover la integración de perspectivas interseccionales y de prácticas de seguridad digital.

 

Para este mandato debe: 

  • Ser ciudadano.a canadiense o tener la condición de residente permanente en Canadá; 
  • Tener un título universitario en ciencias políticas, sociología, derechos humanos, estudios de género o cualquier otro campo pertinente;
  • Tener al menos 2 años de experiencia relacionada con el mandato;
  • Poseer el dominio del español hablado y escrito (obligatorio);
  • Poseer el dominio de Microsoft Office y de los softwares de concepcion y edicion (Adobe etc..)

Here’s what your daily life will look like:

In close collaboration with the Oxfam in Ghana and the The Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG), the Advisor will contribute to:

  • Support learning exchanges between PPAG, Oxfam, and other feminist civil society actors. Design and deliver tailored training sessions on gender equality, safeguarding, feminist principles, power dynamics, and inclusive programming.
  • Support the review and implementation of safeguarding and gender equality policies across PPAG and Oxfam in Ghana. Provide technical assistance for gender mainstreaming and safeguarding integration in program design, implementation, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Ensure that international standards on gender and gender-based violence (GBV) are taken into account in the planning and implementation of the volunteer cooperation programme.
  • Support project managers and partners in integrating gender into all stages of the project cycle (from design to evaluation).
  • Support the identification of women's rights organizations and feminist youth movements able to collaborate with Oxfam in the design and implementation of gender-sensitive programme and campaigns.

For this mandate you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or have permanent resident status in Canada
  • Have university degree in gender studies, social work, human rights, development studies, or other relevant fields.
  • Have 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in gender justice and safeguarding advisory roles.
  • Have deep understanding of intersectionality, feminist principles, and power analysis.
  • Have experience in developing policies, training tools, and delivering participatory workshops.
  • Be familiar with Ghanaian cultural, legal, and policy frameworks on gender and child protection (asset).
  • Be fluent in English, spoken and written.
  • Master the Microsoft Office Suite

  • Support the design, delivery, and evaluation of youth-led SRHR initiatives that are age-appropriate, culturally relevant, and aligned with national policy frameworks such as the Ghana Adolescent Health Policy.
  • Provide technical assistance in developing educational materials, outreach campaigns, and peer education programs tailored to in-school and out-of-school youth.
  • Support the development of communication materials (flyers, videos, social media content) that provide accurate, stigma-free SRHR information to young people.
  • Facilitate training sessions and mentorship opportunities for youth leaders, peer educators, and community volunteers on reproductive health, rights, consent, body autonomy, and healthy relationships.
  • Promote meaningful youth participation in program design, monitoring, and advocacy activities through participatory approaches, and contribute to evidence-based advocacy on youth SRHR in collaboration with national and district-level health authorities, traditional leaders, parents, and civil society.

For this mandate you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or have permanent resident status in Canada
  • Have university degree in public health, youth development, education, gender studies, or other relevant fields.
  • Have 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in adolescent health, SRHR, youth empowerment, or community engagement.
  • Have experience in designing or facilitating youth-led initiatives or peer education models.
  • Be familiar with Ghana’s Adolescent Health Policy, SRHR legal environment, and public health systems.
  • Be fluent in English, spoken and written (required. Knowledge of a Ghanaian local language is an asset.
  • Master the Microsoft Office Suite

In close collaboration with the OiA (Oxfam in Africa) programme team members and the Programme Effectiveness and Innovation (PE&I) team, the Advisor will be responsible for providing technical support to programme teams across Oxfam in Africa as follows:

  • Work with the OiA PE&I team to develop OiA strategy MEAL Framework. 
  • Work with countries and Affiliates to deliver MEAL engagements in alignment with a regional MEAL framework.
  • Support country teams establish and/or maintain standardized data collection processes and tools to enable consistency and comparability of data across all countries.
  • Offer technical support in design and implementation of monitoring and evaluation systems at both regional and country levels. 
  • Work closely with Programme Quality Advisor to establish a community of practice among countries to facilitate a culture of continuous learning and adaptation within the project. 
  • Work closely with PE&I team in capacity strengthening for country and partner teams in MEAL, data generation, documentation, analysis, and reporting

For this mandate you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or have permanent resident status in Canada
  • Have university degree in social sciences, monitoring and evaluation, or any relevant fields.
  • Have 5 years of relevant experience in monitoring and evaluation of emergency and/or development projects/programs.
  • Have proven expertise in qualitative and quantitative survey methods with ability to use data visualization tools like PowerBI. 
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills, data quality assessments, data analysis using statistical software including at least one of the following: SPSS, EViews, or Stata.
  • Be fluent in English and French, spoken and written.
  • Master the Microsoft Office Suite.
