This is a 12-month mandate based in Accra, Ghana

The mandate is under the Equality in Action Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP), which takes place in in about ten countries in Africa, Latin America, and Middle East over an eight-year period (2020-2028). The VCP aims to increase the involvement of local partners in inclusive, innovative, and sustainable initiatives that will advance gender equality. Oxfam's role is to support these organizations, working with the most vulnerable and marginalized people, to claim and exercise their rights. Oxfam places the rights of women, girls, and vulnerable and marginalized people at the heart of everything it does.

Here's what your daily life will look like:

In close collaboration with the Oxfam in Ghana and the Foundation For Security And Development Africa (FOSDA), the Advisor will contribute to:

• Support and advise FOSDA in the design and implementation of fundraising strategies aligned with organizational priorities, identifying new funding opportunities, trends, and entry points with donors.
• Provide technical guidance and support the preparation of high-quality concept notes, proposals, and donor applications, ensuring strong impact narratives, budgets, and alignment with donor requirements.
• Support FOSDA to strengthen its donor mapping systems and relationship management practices with institutional and private donors.
• Train and mentor staff and partners on fundraising skills, including proposal writing, donor engagement, positioning, and storytelling for impact.
• Work with programme teams to package results, evidence, and impact data into compelling donor reports, briefs, and communication materials that support retention and future funding.

For this mandate you must:

• Be Canadian citizenship or permanent residency required
• Have a University degree in relevant discipline e.g. organizational development, finance, international development, public policy, gender studies, nonprofit management
• Have a minimum of 3 years experience in fundraising, business development, grant acquisition, or donor relations within NGOs, development agencies, or social impact organizations.
• Have a proven track record of securing funding from institutional donors, foundations, corporate partners, or bilateral/multilateral agencies.
• Have experience developing successful concept notes, proposals, and funding strategies.
• Have excellent writing, documentation, and systems-thinking abilities.
• Have proficiency in Microsoft Office, HRIS, and virtual collaboration tools (MS Teams, Zoom, etc.)
• Be fluent in English (spoken and written); French is an asset
