Job Description

This is a 12-month mandate based in Dakar, Senegal.


The mandate is part of the Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP) Equality in Action, which is being implemented in 12 countries and 3 regions over an eight-year period (2020–2028). The VCP aims to increase the involvement of local partners in developing countries in inclusive, innovative, and sustainable development initiatives that advance gender equality. Oxfam’s role is to support these organizations, which work with the most vulnerable and marginalized populations, in claiming and exercising their rights. Oxfam places the rights of women, girls, and vulnerable and marginalized people at the heart of all its actions.


Your daily responsibilities will include:

In close collaboration with members of Oxfam’s Africa platform team, the advisor will be responsible for:

  • Proposing and designing innovative multimedia content. The person must be able to write scripts, film using an Insta360 camera, and independently edit audiovisual content for social media and for sharing within the Oxfam confederation; • Strengthening the capacity of country teams and regional partners in video content collection and post-production (editing, image retouching, metadata collection, and content archiving) through online training and guidance;
  • Supporting the animation and monitoring of Oxfam Africa’s Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and Blue Sky pages;
  • Proposing innovative methods, dissemination plans, and approaches to engage the public in digital campaigns.


Requirements for this mandate:

  • Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada;
  • Hold a college or undergraduate university degree in film, digital communication, or other related fields;
  • Have at least 3 years of experience in video production and editing;
  • Have relevant experience in graphic design, photography, visual creation and/or social media management;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, Zoom, etc., as well as Adobe Premiere Pro and Photoshop;
  • Excellent command of both English and French.

  • - 20% increase in subsistence allowance for one accompanying child (maximum of 2 children)
  • - CAD $1,500 per year/per child for school fees

  • CAD $200 for extra baggage
  • Comprehensive medical insurance for you and accompanying child(ren)
  • Volunteer support program during the mandate and up to two months after returning to Canada
