Job Description

This is a 12-month mandate based in Tunis, Tunisia.


The mandate is part of the Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP) Equality in Action, which is being implemented in 12 countries and 3 regions over an eight-year period (2020–2028). The VCP aims to increase the involvement of local partners in developing countries in inclusive, innovative, and sustainable development initiatives that advance gender equality. Oxfam’s role is to support these organizations, which work with the most vulnerable and marginalized populations, in claiming and exercising their rights. Oxfam places the rights of women, girls, and vulnerable and marginalized people at the heart of all its actions.


Your daily responsibilities will include:

In close collaboration with partner organizations and Oxfam team members in Tunisia, the advisor will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the launch of VCP activities in the country.
  • Assisting teams with documentation related to the VCP (requisitions, quotations, payment receipts, etc.) and supporting the finance department in payment tracking.
  • Monitoring logistical needs related to VCP volunteers and assisting them with expense declarations and reimbursement requests.
  • Strengthening the financial and accounting capacities of partners.
  • Assisting in the monthly preparation of cash forecast requests for partners or volunteers as needed.
  • Supporting the monitoring of operating advances for volunteers and their liquidation according to Oxfam’s current procedures.


Requirements for this mandate:

  • Have the Canadian citizenship or permanent residency in Canada.
  • Have a University degree in Finance, Accounting, Logistics, or another relevant field.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the NGO and/or International Cooperation sector.
  • Knowledge and use of IT tools and accounting software appropriate for NGO accounting.
  • Strong planning, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Good understanding of Tunisia’s socio-economic context.
  • Fluency in French (spoken and written) is mandatory; Arabic and/or English are assets.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • - 20% bonus on subsistence allowance for one accompanying child (maximum of 2 children).
  • - CAD $1,500 per year per child for school fees.

  • CAD $200 for additional baggage.

  • Volunteer support program during the mandate and up to two months after returning to Canada.
