Job Description

Mandate duration: 12 months Start date: As soon as possible

This is a 12-month regional mandate for Oxfam in Africa based in Dakar, Senegal.

The mandate is under the Equality in Action Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP), which takes place in 12 countries and 3 regions over an eight-year period (2020-2028). The VCP aims to increase the involvement of local partners in developing countries in inclusive, innovative, and sustainable development initiatives that will advance gender equality. Oxfam's role is to support these organizations, working with the most vulnerable and marginalized people, to claim and exercise their rights. Oxfam places the rights of women, girls, and vulnerable and marginalized people at the heart of everything we do.

Here's what your daily life will look like:

In close collaboration with Oxfam team members in the region of intervention, the advisor will be responsible for:

• Support Oxfam and its partners in their fundraising strategy, proposal development process, donor engagement and relationship building.

• Accompany Oxfam and its partners to effectively build and implement their resource mobilization plans and supporting the establishment of a data base for key funding documents such as pipelines, co-funding plans, reporting tracking tools;

• Support the Business Development Team in their reporting, contract management systems, grant initiation workshops, donor compliance and audits;

• Collaborate on the strategic plan of the Business Development Team supporting countries and partners to be aligned with the strategy, mission, vision of Oxfam

For this mandate you must:

• Be a Canadian citizen or have permanent resident status in Canada;

• Have university or a master’s degree in administration, economics, business development, marketing, or a related field.;

• Have 3 years of experience in a similar position;

• Have an understanding of donor funding in the international development environment;

• Be fluent in English, spoken and written (required);

• Master the Microsoft Office suite.

What we offer:

• Monthly allowance for living expenses. 

20% increase in living allowance for an accompanying child (maximum of 2 children). 

1,500$ CAN per year/per child for schooling.

• Monthly amount for rent;

• Round trip flight with 2 checked luggages; 

Round trip flight for accompanying child(ren).

• 200$ CAD for additional luggage;

• Advantageous medical insurance for you and the accompanying child(ren);

• A volunteer support program during your mandate and up to two months after your return to Canada;

• 20 days of vacation and other holidays;

• Access to various training courses (E-Learning, etc.);

• A rewarding experience with a well-known and recognized organization.
