Position Overview
The Parks and Cemetery Operator works to maintain the parks, cemeteries, trails, outdoors spaces and sidewalks throughout the Township in a safe and attractive condition.
Summary Of Responsibilities
• Responsible for groundskeeping duties of the parks, cemeteries, trails, road allowances, public docks and launching ramps, and beaches within the Township. Duties include but are not limited to; cutting grass, trimming trees, raking leaves, planting and maintaining flower gardens.
• Operate related equipment, including but not limited to; mowers (push and ride on), trimmers, blowers and hand held tools.
Trail maintenance including removing debris and unsafe branches and ensuring signage and markings are clear and maintained.
• Trail projects for restoration/improvement including building wooden paths and walking bridges.
• Set out and take in of park benches and other equipment annually.
• Deliver and pick up park benches to various locations throughout the township for use by private organizations/functions.
• Prepare interments and restore the grave after the interment.
• Pick up litter and garbage from designated receptacles placed throughout the Township
• Assist in the preparation of the docks and equipment for swim programs in Bala and Port Carling.
• Assist in the moving of furniture, etc. in municipal buildings throughout the Township.
• Cleaning, disinfecting and stocking of public washrooms throughout the Township in the summer season.
• Respond to public inquires face to face in a professional and courteous manner.

Qualifications And Experience
• Ontario Secondary School diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge and understanding of groundskeeping equipment.
• Cleaning experience using professional equipment, methods and materials.
• Valid Class “G” Ontario Driver’s License.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
