Opportunity

This role provides clerical support services to the Development Services department, and effective customer service to the community both in person and over the phone and assists with processing building permit applications.

Responsibilities

• Provide counter service for the Development Services Department; provide customer service in person and over the phone and act as the first point of contact to help direct members of the public to the most appropriate Township resource.

• Respond to general inquiries regarding Township by-laws, building permits, application processes and inspection requests.

• Direct the public to the online inspection request system and provide assistance.

• Transfer online inspection requests for older permits to the online system (Cloudpermit).

• Schedule and coordinate inspection schedules for the development services department throughout the township with contractors and developers.

• Assist with the maintenance of permit application files and property filing system, both hard copy and electronic versions.

• Process documents for orders issued by inspectors.

• Respond to and search for document requests by property owners or their agents.

• Maintain the department's general filing systems, and scan and file backlogged documents.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.

• Post-secondary education in an Office Administration field, or related experience.

• Minimum one year of clerical or administrative experience.

• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

• Excellent interpersonal, customer service and communication skills, both oral and written.

• Ability to manage confidential information and exercise discretion and sound judgment regarding sensitive or confidential issues and to project a professional image.
