Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for a strong administrator with some experience or education in a related field. This person must be comfortable working directly with the public to answer general inquiries, and assists the officers with processing appeal reviews or trial requests, maintaining statistics and other data, and intaking applications.

Responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact for the Municipal Law Enforcement division by responding to public inquiries and general requests via phone, email, and in person.

• Provide support and general administration to the Administrative Monetary Penalty System (AMPS), including accepting review requests, coordinating with the Screening Officers, and organizing dates for hearings.

• Manage administrative tasks associated with day-to-day enforcement operations, including the preparation of orders and charges.

• Assist with the preparation and distribution of correspondence, staff reports, by-law updates, and contract and procurement documents.

• Maintain and manage the division’s records including hard copy and electronic files and databases, financial records, and purchase orders.

• Coordinate invoicing and fee requests with the Finance department.

• Provide support to the broader Development Services and Environmental Sustainability portfolio as needed.

• Follow the bylaw related to records management and maintain current knowledge of records management principles for all records generated. Store, locate and research departmental archives as requested.

• Assist with maintenance of the Township website within areas of responsibility. 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent experience.

• 3-4 years of administrative experience preferably in a municipal operations environment.

• Strong technological proficiency, including experience with Excel spreadsheets and databases.

• Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with employees and members of the public, both in person, by telephone, or electronically.

• Highly developed organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to cope with competing demands and multiple tasks.

• Valid Class G Ontario Driver’s License.
