The Opportunity

The ideal candidate will provide efficient professional support to the Manikheir team in adopting robust human resources management practices. As the HR Manager, you will oversee all HR policies and programs at the Manikheir manufacturing site in London, Ontario. Your role will involve serving as a trusted advisor to the leadership team and the employees, ensuring a healthy work environment and compliance with labor standards.

What you will do
  • Lead the HR efforts for the newly opened manufacturing site, ensuring the seamless implementation of HR processes, policies, and programs in alignment with corporate guidelines.
  • Collaborate closely with site leaders and the Medicom HR team to understand and adapt corporate HR initiatives to the specific needs of the site.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive project plan for HR integration, considering timelines, resources, and potential challenges.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to establish effective communication channels, support change management efforts, and ensure smooth transition and adoption of HR practices.
  • Assess site-specific HR needs and recommend tailored solutions to meet local requirements while maintaining alignment with corporate policies and practices.
  • Conduct training and information sessions for employees and managers to introduce and familiarize them with HR processes and programs specific to the site.
  • Act as a point of contact for site-specific HR inquiries, addressing questions and providing guidance on HR-related matters during the site opening phase.

Performance Management

  • Provide guidance and support to supervisors and managers in performance management, disciplinary measures, and conflict management, ensuring fair and consistent practices.
  • Collaborate with the Medicom HR team to coordinate the performance review process and calendar, ensuring timely completion.
  • Follow up on developmental plans for employees.
  • Produce and analyze HR Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement.

Staffing

  • Identify staffing needs.
  • Lead the complete recruitment cycle for the site (i.e. conduct interviews and liaise with recruiting agencies and or the Medicom HR team when necessary).
  • Work in collaboration with the Medicom HR team on international mobility initiatives for Manikheir Canada.
  • Manage the employee onboarding program and ensure seamless integration for new hires and promoted employees.
  • Conduct exit interviews.

Policies & Practices

  • Recommend new or updated policies, procedures, and programs, actively participating in their rollout through information sessions and support material preparation.
  • Provide guidance and support to ensure successful adoption of policies and practices.

Health & Safety

  • Work closely with supervisors in identifying Health & Safety/OSHA requirements and supporting activities.

Benefits & HR Tools

  • Conduct information sessions for groups of employees and provide training to managers and supervisors on HR tools and processes.

Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements in employee file documentation.
  • Manage personal employee files, ensuring compliance and maintenance.

Talent Development

  • Participate in talent development by providing support and training activities.

Communication

  • Prepare and publish memos, people announcements, letters, etc.
  • Respond to employee requests within the scope of responsibilities.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and information sessions.
What you will bring
  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR Management, Industrial Relations, or any other related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, in a manufacturing or industrial setting, with a track record of successfully partnering with business leaders to drive HR initiatives and support organizational goals.
  • Experience in business integration or similar projects involving the implementation of corporate policies and practices in remote locations, demonstrating the ability to navigate through challenges and adapt HR strategies to meet local site needs; experience in international mobility is considered a strong asset.
  • Proven ability to provide strong advisory services at all levels, to senior management and employees, effectively communicate HR policies, procedures, and best practices, and influence decision-making processes.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HR processes, including but not limited to recruitment and selection, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, talent development, and compliance with labor laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of labor standards, employment laws, and regulations to ensure compliance and a healthy work environment.
  • Strong project planning and execution skills, enabling the successful implementation of HR initiatives within specific timelines. This includes the ability to create project plans, set clear objectives, monitor progress, and overcome obstacles to deliver desired outcomes.
  • Proficiency in change management principles, enabling the smooth transition of employees and HR processes during the site opening phase, fostering employee engagement, and driving adoption of new policies and practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, allowing effective collaboration and relationship-building with employees at all levels within the organization, as well as external stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of HR analytics and data-driven decision-making, leveraging HR metrics and insights to drive continuous improvement and inform strategic HR initiatives.
  • Strong leadership abilities, including the capacity to inspire and motivate teams, provide guidance and support, and foster a positive and inclusive work culture.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams to effectively perform HR-related tasks and facilitate collaboration.
  • Confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive employee information and managing employee-related matters.
  • CPHR certification is considered an asset.
