Position Overview
The Regulatory Policy Assistant supports Ontario One Call’s goal of ensuring safe and timely excavation in the province of Ontario. Assisting the Compliance & Industry Performance (“CAIP”) team and Regulatory Policy team under the Chief Regulatory Officer (CRO) by providing excellent customer service to our many stakeholders as well as verifying and issuing complaints for the purpose of implementing positive regulatory outcomes. Providing administrative support to the CRO Leadership team and other teams within the organization by conducting research and comparison activities on governance and policy as it relates to Ontario One Call.
Reporting to the Supervisor of Compliance & Industry Performance, this position is located at our head office at 104 Cooper Drive in Guelph, Ontario.
This position is for current co-op students only.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide research and analysis support to the Policy Team in generating briefing materials
- Analyze and evaluate qualitative and quantitative data, conducting assessments, and identifying issues and trends.
- Create reports, presentations and other decision facilitation tools for the Senior leaders and Executive leaders at Ontario One Call
- Coordinate meetings between internal and external stakeholders
- Assist senior staff in writing internal policy, process and procedure documents
- Provide administrative support to the CAIP and Policy team:
- Database maintenance
- Record keeping
- Auditing
- Minute Taking
- Assist Investigators with scheduling interviews, research, communications, reports or any other administrative support as it relates to an investigation
- Assist Administrators with complaint intake and triage
- Ensure a positive image of the organization and maintain effective relationships by providing timely information to stakeholders
- Support any regulatory activities and special projects, as required
- Assist the CAIP function with research, analysis and writing tasks
- Provide appropriate technical support for other multi-disciplinary teams with regards to policy development, including review and analysis of issues and trends, preparation of evaluations or other research activities and studies
- Review current events and industry reports to proactively identify problems and issues to be addressed and propose solutions
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge and competence with quantitative and qualitative research techniques
- General understanding of legislative and regulatory policies and processes in the province of Ontario
- Ability to comprehend complex information from multiple sources and to synthesize insights
- Strong organizational skills including being proficient in time management, prioritization and goal-setting skills
- Ability to work independently and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills to express complex concepts in a concise manner
- Keen attention to detail and good judgment
- Mental resilience to adapt quickly to a fast-changing circumstances and being open to creative solutions
- Proficient in the use of MS Office Products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and the ability to learn new software
- Actively enrolled in a, or graduate from, post-secondary education in compliance, regulation, law, paralegal, business administration, or related program
