Magil Construction is seeking Field Engineers to join our team!
Reporting to the Field Operations Director, the Field Engineer will perform various duties while supporting the Site Superintendent. This position is also responsible for assisting in evaluation and solution of potential field problems as well as in the supervision of trade employees (e.g. electrical, piping, structural steel, rebar, duct work, etc.).
Responsibilities
- Create, maintain and execute project plans and schedules while ensuring it stays within budget
- Ensure on-site safety and efficiency at all times
- Obtain necessary information for engineers, designers, inspectors, municipal authorities, and owners
- Ensure construction plans meet guidelines and specifications of building codes and other regulations
- Perform layout work competently, accurately and efficiently
- Provide technical engineering information and interpretation of plans, detail sheets and specifications for contractors
- Coordinate inspections with consultants and authorities as required by the contract
- Assist Superintendent by enforcing quality control, expediting subcontractors
- Determine solutions to conflicts in drawings and specifications by consulting and coordinating with subtrades
- Review shop drawings for conformance with the contract and ensure information is communicated to the foreman and superintendent
Qualifications
- 2+ years of site supervision experience (or similar)
- Post-secondary education in Engineering or other relevant industry
- Full working knowledge of planning and scheduling, surveying techniques, equipment standards and procedures are necessary
- Effective oral and written communication skills and ability to represent the company and project team in a professional manner
- Excellent problem-solving skills backed by solid technical knowledge
- Ability to work under pressure and complete tasks in a timely manner
- Ability to read blueprints and develop As-Builts
- Ability to assume responsibility
- Ability to travel a must
