Director of Business Development and Operations

Position Overview:

We are recruiting a Director of Business Development & Operations to join our executive team to drive business growth, optimize operational efficiency, and ensure seamless project execution. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in our company’s success while contributing to the development of Indigenous communities. Key Responsibilities:

Business Development:

  • Lead the charge in coordinating and developing Expressions of Interest (EOIs) and Pre-Qualification (Pre-Qual) requests.
  • Strategically manage the opportunity pipeline to align with business objectives, ensuring a steady flow of new contracts and growth.
  • Proactively collaborate with the MCLP Board to identify, pursue, and strategically secure contract opportunities.
  • Keep your finger on the pulse of market trends, and competitor activities to inform and shape our strategic direction.
  • Act as the primary client contact, nurturing and expanding relationships with key clients, Indigenous partners, and the broader community

Proposal Management:

  • Spearhead activities related to the development of quotations and RFP responses, ensuring our bids are competitive and aligned with our mission.
  • Lead bid teams on complex projects, ensuring estimates, schedules, and execution plans robust.
  • Collaborate closely with the President of Makwa-Cahill and MCLP Board on bid strategies and approvals, always striving for excellence.
  • Drive continuous improvement by conducting thorough handover meetings on successful proposals and gleaning insights/lessons learned from unsuccessful ones.

Operational Support:

  • Champion a culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence across the organization.
  • Play a key role in strategic planning, budget development, and revenue forecasting, ensuring our financial health and operational efficiency.
  • Create an environment where employees are motivated, valued, and empowered to excel.
  • Collaborate with the President of Makwa-Cahill on day-to-day operations, bringing your expertise to bear on everything from technical documentation to client relations.

What You Bring:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • An MBA or relevant advanced degree is considered an asset.
  • At least 10 years of experience in business development, operations, or project management, preferably within the construction or nuclear industry.
  • A proven track record of managing proposal development processes and cultivating strong client relationships.
  • Understanding of, and commitment to, the importance of indigenous community relationships and local stakeholders’ relationships.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to think strategically, analyze market trends, and drive business growth.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with a deep understanding of QA, HSE systems, and the nuances of unionized and non-unionized work environments.
