Job description

Our client, leaders in the field of surgical eye care are seeking a IOL Coordinator. The coordinator works closely with the clinic’s medical professionals to ensure a smooth and pleasant experience for our patients undergoing intraocular (IOL) treatment, or refractive lens exchange surgery. The comfort and quality of care for our patients is the priority of the coordinator. This person coordinates all medical care for IOL patients.

Responsibilities

  • Seek the assistance of support staff, as needed, to fulfill the above requirements.
  • Answer questions from surgeons, patients and employees regarding intraocular procedures.
  • Maintain tracking sheets and monthly statistical reports.
  • Contact local and international providers (hospital, medical offices, and other providers) to coordinate patient appointments and to obtain updated medical records as needed.
  • Receive and process approval of cataract surgery by medical directors. 
  • Identify and solve problems as they arise.
  • Exhibit a high degree of responsibility for confidential matters.
  • Plan, organize and schedule patients for surgery days.
  • Any other tasks as required by the center director or management team.

  • Participate in the identification and implementation of solutions to prevent recurrence of an adverse event.
  • Provide the necessary support to the victim of an accident and their family if necessary.
  • Ensure that traffic areas are safe.
  • Ensure a safe environment for the patient.
  • Check the safety of the environment, equipment, furniture, and report any equipment malfunction, or defective equipment.
  • Report any hazardous situation.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the premises. 
  • Ensure the integrity of data in patient files.
  • Apply means of preventing infections in use required within the organization and more specifically the operating room and adjacent areas.
  • Collaborate and participate in standards of asepsis in the operating room.
