University Health Network (UHN) is a major landmark in Canada´s healthcare system and a teaching hospital of the University of Toronto. UHN Foundation raises funds for research, education and the enhancement of patient care at Toronto General and Toronto Western hospitals, Toronto Rehab and The Michener Institute of Education at UHN. The Foundation is one of Toronto’s top fundraisers and we are looking to grow our Stewardship team as we continue the vital work of celebrating and recognizing our donors – ensuring they feel genuinely appreciated, meaningfully thanked and well informed about the incredible impact their generosity makes.

Position Summary

In support of UHN Foundation’s strategic plan and vision, the Senior Stewardship Officer, Events will be responsible for designing and executing exceptional donor experiences through a best-in-class cultivation, stewardship and recognition events program. This position plays a key role in deepening our most important relationships and demonstrating the significant impact of philanthropic support.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the organization and execution of a portfolio of high-impact and engaging stewardship, recognition and cultivation events (virtual, in-person and hybrid) 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with fundraising teams, marketing and communications and senior leaders to ensure the alignment of event goals with donor engagement strategies 
  • Provide strategic input on donor engagement opportunities throughout the calendar year and contribute to the development of an integrated stewardship strategy
  • Build strong and meaningful relationships with Foundation colleagues, donors, prospects, Board members, volunteers and provide outstanding stakeholder engagement and service at all times 
  • Track event metrics, donor feedback and engagement outcomes to evaluate success and inform future planning 
  • Manage logistics and vendor relationships, oversee timelines and budgets and ensure seamless event execution 
  • Support donor recognition initiatives and contribute to the development of creative stewardship touchpoints beyond events
  • Work in collaboration with the Stewardship Coordinator to plan and execute events, ensuring seamless coordination, clear shared accountabilities and providing guidance and mentorship throughout the process

Experience

  • University degree / college graduate diploma
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in donor relations, events management and/or fundraising
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality, donor-centric experiences
  • Highly proficient in the use of all corporate productivity tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Zoom, Teams and Canva
  • Evidence of strategic leadership and initiative, tact, diplomacy, attention to detail, and creativity
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills with a strong attention to detail and aptitude for engaging donors
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as to work effectively with a diverse group of donors, volunteers and staff
  • Ability to work in a hectic and results-oriented environment
  • Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge NXT or other donor database management systems considered an asset

Work Environment

  • Fast-paced, service and results oriented environment
  • Occasional work required outside of regular 9 am – 5 pm work hours to attend and execute events
  • The Foundation has a hybrid work model. Staff will be required to have a safe home office set-up and will be required to be in office a minimum of 2 days per week
