Overview and Key Accountabilities
UHN Foundation is seeking a motivated and experienced individual to support the execution and administration of the growing direct response portfolio. The Development Officer, Direct Response is responsible for supporting both the Monthly and One-time giving programs within the Community Giving team.
The Development Officer, Direct Response is a passionate fundraiser ready to take on supporting the growth of our mass market fundraising program. It is an exciting time to join UHN Foundation. This new role will play an important part in supporting the Foundations strategic priories as we look to improve donor conversion and retention, increase online revenue and focus on unrestricted giving using data-based decision making.
Primary Responsibilities
Marketing, Revenue Generation and Project Management
- Collaborate with team members to support the development and implementation of direct response marketing tactics to acquire and retain one-time and monthly donors to grow the donor file and increase long term value through a multi-channel approach including, but not limited to: Direct mail, Email, Digital, Face-to-Face Canvassing (F2F), Telemarketing, and SMS.
- Oversee the development and implementation of stewardship journeys for both one-time and monthly donors
- Assist in developing, executing and project managing various direct response fundraising campaigns including Telemarketing, Direct Mail, Digital and F2F
- Support relationship management with key external vendors (e.g., Canada Post, F2F partner(s), creative partners, production partners, telemarketing vendors)
- Stay up to date on market trends, identifying opportunities for testing and innovation to enhance campaign performance.
- Project manage the development of campaign assets, including both digital and printed materials to support both Monthly and One-time giving portfolios
- Participate in planning and strategy sessions for the Direct Response program
Data and Reporting
- Monitor and evaluate campaign performance, including preparing and sharing ongoing results reports to improve program KPIs, with an overall lens on industry benchmarks and past campaign performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to request data exports, appeal requests, and email and web updates
- Work with program leads to develop post-campaign analyses and recommend improvements for future initiatives
- Lead testing strategies for direct response campaigns to ensure continuous optimization.
Administration
- Track and process all invoices for the Annual Giving portfolio, ensuring invoices are accurate before submission
- Present status updates on key programs areas
- Develop workback schedules and project plans for campaign activities
- Manage deadlines, track timelines and proactively communicate with all stakeholders to ensure projects stay on time
- Support in the development of campaign briefs ensuring feedback from cross-functional teams as needed
- Work cross-functionally with internal BI teams to ensure that all relevant data and actions are entered/coded in Raiser’s Edge in a timely manner
- Coordinate feedback and approval processes
- Schedule and lead meetings, ensuring actions and key takeaways are recorded and shared with stakeholders
Position Requirements
Technical Knowledge/Skills Requirements
- A relevant 4-year degree or, a relevant 3-year degree/diploma combined with a professional certification or, an equivalent combination of formal education and relevant experience.
- 3 years of experience in administrative coordination/support and collaborating with senior professional fundraising staff and volunteers
- Proficiency in the full suite of Microsoft Office products and internet tools. Familiarity with and aptitude for Raiser’s Edge /NXT a strong asset
- Highly organized, systematic and able to prioritize, schedule and perform complex tasks on time and with minimal supervision
- Exemplary attention to detail with excellent planning, organizational and time management skills
- Resilient and focused
- Superior verbal and written communication skills, and ability to confidently interact with individuals at all levels
- Efficient while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong strategic aptitude with a demonstrated ability to problem solve and handle a diverse range of assignments with multiple timelines
- Resourceful and self-motivated while remaining comfortable collaborating within a framework of a goal-oriented team environment
- Possess a professional and mature presence with evidence of leadership, sound judgement intuitiveness, tact and diplomacy.
Work Environment
- Fast pace, service and results oriented environment.
- May have some activity outside of the office to support meetings with volunteers and sponsors.
- The Foundation has a hybrid work model. Staff will be required to have a safe home office set-up 2-3 days per week and will be in office for 1-2 days per week, (specifics to be planned with your manager.)
- Working hours may include some evenings and weekends.
- Working environment is hybrid with an in-office/at-home schedule as defined by department management.
