The Position
The Senior Architectural Technologist is responsible for developing and designing technical documents such as plans, specifications, cost estimates, and construction drawings.
Owing to their seniority, this person must also take on a leadership role with junior and intermediate staff: reviewing shop drawings, identifying issues from a construction standpoint, and mentoring as needed. They will act as a reference point and have an overview of the entire project, from the conceptual phase to construction support.
Key competencies for the role include listening, analyzing, validating, teamwork, problem-solving, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Your Main Responsibilities
- Mentor less experienced colleagues and act as a bridge between senior, intermediate, and junior team members;
- Demonstrate attention to detail and proactive listening to understand, creatively solve, and accurately respond to all stakeholder needs;
- Be a reliable and flexible team partner who works well under pressure and can meet objectives in a dynamic environment;
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams (engineering, clients, specialists, etc.).
The Person We Are Looking For
- College Diploma (DEC) in Architectural Technology or equivalent;
- Approximately 10 years of experience or more;
- Proven experience in coaching/mentoring;
- Experience in team management (2 to 3 people);
- Proven achievements on multiple diverse projects across all phases, ideally built projects;
- Strong technical knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit;
- Good knowledge of the Québec Building Code;
- Strong understanding of North American building envelope principles (northern climate).
Job Description
- Take charge of projects throughout all technical phases up to site supervision (plans/drawings, specifications, estimates) and participate in their design;
- Participate in preparing construction and fit-out cost estimates;
- Identify and resolve issues related to the building code;
- Calculate areas and perform quantity takeoffs;
- Develop construction details;
- Lead and coordinate the production of construction drawings (preliminary and final phases);
- Lead multidisciplinary coordination meetings (external stakeholders);
- Coordinate the production of plans, specifications, and construction details;
- Be proficient in all tasks related to site supervision;
- Develop and maintain trusting relationships with your team and clients.
