THE POSITION

Breakfast Club of Canada is seeking a meticulous, organized, and team-oriented Accounting Technician. Reporting to the Chief Accountant, the person in this role will contribute to the smooth operation of the organization’s financial and accounting activities, particularly by supporting processes related to accounts payable, reconciliations, and journal entries. In a dynamic and committed environment, this person will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of financial information, compliance with internal policies, and the continuous improvement of financial processes.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee accounts payable processing and the payment cycle;

• Validate accounts payable transactions processed by administrative staff including invoices, expense reports, and payments to schools and volunteers and ensure they are coded and approved in accordance with established policies;

• Validate accounts receivable invoicing;

• Serve as the point of contact for the travel policy and answer employees’ questions regarding expense reports and reimbursements;

• Coordinate the corporate credit card management cycle, including training employees on SmartData, tracking requests, making account changes, and ensuring compliance with established procedures;

• Prepare and post adjusting journal entries;

• Track prepaid expenses; • Track fixed assets;

• Perform bank reconciliations;

• Monitor and balance accounts receivable and accounts payable;

• Perform analyses and reconciliations of general ledger accounts;

• Contribute to work related to interim and year-end audits;

• Participate in the continuous improvement of financial and accounting processes, as required.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Hold a DEC in accounting;

• Have 5 to 7 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally in a role involving the full accounting cycle;

• Be fluent in French and English, both spoken and written (English is essential for meetings held several times a month with colleagues and partners across Canada);

• Have excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel;

• Have a good knowledge of Microsoft Business Central (a plus);

• Demonstrate great attention to detail and be able to make connections between different files, follow-ups, and transactions;

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

• Permanent, full-time position;

• Annual salary ranging from $58,000 to $70,000, depending on experience;
