Job description

Reporting to the Director of Construction, this position is responsible for the success of projects under his/her leadership in directing the overall operations and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. 

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, and ensure the implementation and successful completion of one or more construction projects
  • Liaises with clients, architects, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure quality project execution
  • Communicate clearly and promote teamwork with Magil project staff and subcontractors
  • Promotes Magil health and safety program
  • Manage contract documentation 
  • Lead project site meetings with stakeholders, subcontractors and design professionals
  • Prepare and manage project monthly progress billings to client
  • Manage and track project costs including monthly forecasting
  • Review and approve subcontractor and supplier invoicing
  • Develops and implements project schedule including monitoring and updating
  • Monitor and manage project deficiencies to ensure timely completion
  • Manage and direct project coordinator(s) and provide coaching / mentorship
  • Perform any other duties related to the position

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction engineering, civil engineering, building engineering or holds a technology diploma in construction, architecture or civil
  • 5 to 8 years of related construction experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction documents, drawings, specifications, current construction practices and methodology including understanding of construction costs and budgeting
  • Contract negotiation and management skills with an in-depth understanding of contract documents
  • Proficient with MS Office and MS Project software
  • Knowledge of Procore management software (an asset)
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • LEED accreditation (an asset)
  • Gold Seal Certification (an asset)
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license
