Instrumentation Technician – Building Automation (Siemens Focus)
Cahill Technical Services (CTS), a division of The Cahill Group, is seeking an Instrumentation Technician with a strong interest or background in Siemens Building Automation Systems to support our Building Controls & Commissioning team in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. In this role, you will support the installation, programming, commissioning, and ongoing optimization of Siemens-based building automation systems across commercial and institutional projects. You’ll work closely with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure high-quality, reliable system delivery.

What You’ll Do
- Program, configure, and support Siemens BAS controllers and associated field devices
- Perform point-to-point checks, sensor calibration, pre-testing, and commissioning activities
- Troubleshoot and repair control systems using working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, hydronic, and DDC systems
- Support installation teams with technical guidance and on-site issue resolution
- Assist with panel assembly, wiring verification, and quality checks
- Participate in system turnovers, commissioning debriefs, and project meetings
- Provide system training and support to clients as required
- Review drawings, specifications, and sequences to ensure alignment with project intent
- Support energy efficiency initiatives, testing, and verification activities • Interest in learning design using AutoCAD and Bluebeam, preparing them for seamless field installation.
- Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and stakeholders to achieve cohesive system integration across all phases of the project.
What We’re Looking For
- Instrumentation, Electrical, HVAC, or Mechanical Engineering Technologist diploma (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 2 years experience with Siemens building automation or controls systems, however, candidates with more extensive experience are encouraged to apply.
- Solid understanding of HVAC and electrical systems
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills
- Willingness to learn AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and advanced BAS tools
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
