The Cahill Group is currently seeking a results-driven and analytical Strategic Sourcing Specialist to join our team at our corporate office in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. This is an exciting opportunity to become an integral part of our dynamic Supply Chain team, contributing to the success of major construction projects across the country.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies that deliver cost savings, improve supplier performance, and drive value across the organization. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to identify sourcing opportunities, lead competitive procurement processes, and negotiate contracts. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of procurement best practices, market trends, and supplier relationship management. This will be a full-time position, working Monday through Friday.
What you'll do:
- Develop and implement category sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through spend analysis, market research, and supplier benchmarking.
- Manage end-to-end sourcing processes including RFPs, RFQs, supplier selection, and contract negotiations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure service quality, reliability, and performance.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and ensure alignment with sourcing plans.
- Support the Supply Chain Manager in executing strategic procurement initiatives and driving consistency across the organization.
- Analyze procurement data and prepare reports to support strategic decision-making.
- Monitor and analyze commodity trends, pricing data, and KPIs to identify cost savings and process improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide training, guidance, and support on advanced sourcing practices, supplier management, and risk mitigation.
- Contribute to project-specific procurement planning for large-scale construction initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and ethical standards.
- Help develop and maintain internal commodity codes tied to purchasing agreements to promote consistency across the Cahill Group.
What you'll bring:
- 5+ years of relevant experience within the construction or related industry, or a combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution is preferred, with a focus in Business or Supply Chain being considered an asset.
- Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) certification is an asset.
- Proven success in negotiating long-term agreements for construction commodities or similar materials.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
