Join Our Team as a Welding Supervisor at the Cahill Pennecon Joint Venture – St. John’s, NL
The Cahill-Pennecon Joint Venture is actively seeking a skilled and experienced Welding Supervisor to join our team on the West White Rose Project, a landmark oil and gas development featuring a major offshore welding hookup based out of St. John’s, NL. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead one of Canada’s most complex welding operations, as we join the Concrete Gravity Structure (CGS) to the Topside Modules.
As Welding Supervisor, you will be instrumental in directing and overseeing all field welding activities, working closely with our execution team and ensuring all welding is completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. This is your chance to take part in a once-in-a-generation project, contributing to industrial innovation and shaping the future of offshore construction.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate all welding and fabrication activities on site
- Ensure compliance with project welding procedures and client specifications
- Plan and assign work to welders and welding teams, ensuring productivity and safety
- Liaise with Quality Inspectors to verify compliance with inspection and test plans
- Monitor welder performance and manage requalification as required
- Participate in the review and validation of weld maps and material traceability
- Promote and enforce strict adherence to safety and HSEQ standards
- Support onboarding and mentoring of new welding personnel
- Provide daily reports on progress, productivity, and manpower
- Coordinate with construction, quality, and planning departments to resolve issues
- Maintain communication with supervisors and project managers to meet execution goals
Qualifications:
- Red Seal Welder certification or equivalent journeyperson qualification
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience supervising industrial welding operations
- Strong knowledge of ASME, CSA, and AWS codes and welding standards
- Experience working on large-scale construction or oil & gas projects preferred
- Demonstrated leadership and coordination skills in high-performance environments
- Offshore experience is considered a strong asset
- Must be able to pass offshore medical, BST (Basic Survival Training), and drug and alcohol screening per regulatory requirements
Job Details:
- Start Date: June 2025, with offshore mobilization planned for August 2025
- Duration: Expected completion around mid to late September 2025
- Onshore Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8-hour days
- Offshore Rotation: 21 days on / 7 days off (may extend to 28 days on / 7 days off)
