We have opportunities for Journeyperson Plumbers and Pipefitters to work with us on exciting construction projects, primarily in the Halifax Regional Municipality.

About the Opportunity: We are looking for plumbers and pipefitters to support on our exciting projects, mostly within the Halifax Regional Municipality.

Work Site Environment:

  • Safety is priority #1 for Atlantica and it’s workers
  • Large scale commercial jobsites within mainland Nova Scotia
  • New build (Greenfield) and retrofits/upgrades

Transportation/Travel Information:

  • Required travel to job sites - most job sites within the HRM, however there are opportunities in other communities in Nova Scotia as well

Responsibilities:

  • Assemble pipe sections, tubing and fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing and welding equipment.
  • Fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observe pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks.
  • Review blueprints and specifications to determine work details and procedures.
  • Locate and mark the position of pipe installations, connections, passage holes, and fixtures in structures, using measuring instruments such as rulers and levels.
  • Cut openings in structures to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings, using hand and power tools.
  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications to determine layout requirements
  • Lay out, assemble, fabricate, maintain and repair piping systems which carry water, steam, chemicals or fuel used in heating, cooling, lubricating and other processes
  • Lay out, assemble, fabricate, maintain and repair pressurized piping systems
  • Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools
  • Hydro-test and install fabricated pipe spools within structural steel modular assemblies, adding designed supports as required
  • Maintain all tools, work area and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion
  • Read and interpret client and company supplied construction fabrication drawings and specifications
  • Perform pipe welding on carbon steel and stainless steel as required

Is this role right for you?

About You:

Education:

  • Journeyperson Plumber/Pipe Fitter or Trade Qualifier certification (3rd and 4th period apprentices will be considered based on experience)
  • Experience: 4+ years in the pipefitting or plumbing trade Multiple trade tickets would be considered an asset
  • Gas Ticket or Medgas Ticket would be considered an asset
  • Experience working on a large commercial job sites Carbon steel and stainless steel pipe welding training and experience would be considered an asset

Safety Certification Requirements:

  • Valid Workplace NS Fall Protection Certification
  • Valid WHMIS 2015 Certification Valid
  • First Aid is an asset
  • Commitment to and champion for safety conscious work environment *
